“Time travel is possible.”
While some do it more often than others, generally one of our biggest errors lies in spending our mental and emotional energy “living” in the future or the past, or in other words, in NARRATIVE mode. We think about what we need to get done (today, tomorrow, and last week’s procrastinated tasks). Or we think about what went wrong in the past (our own failures and past emotional drama and trauma). We think about what we want our spouses, children, bosses, the President, the weather, etc. to do. We end up spending a great deal of energy in the past or the future, but not often enough in the present. Unfortunately, the only time we can live is NOW, and it’s the only place where we have any power! When we don’t pay attention to what is happening right now, we miss out on LIFE!
A common source of human suffering comes from this lack of discipline in the mind.
Simply noticing when our minds are in narrative mode actually brings us back to the present moment. So, tune into that toggle switch in your mind…….are you in the past, future, or NOW? This simple little process of noticing puts you back in the present! The only place there is peace and JOY is right now.
We need to process the past, plan for the future, but we must LIVE in the present!!
